Objectives:

Students will understand the different kind of tones and moods an author can take in a story.

Students will learn new words to describe tone and mood.

Lesson Activities:

1) For the following adjectives, find  3 synonyms & 3 antoynms for each word.

a) happy

b) sad

c) mad

d) jealous

e) excited

2) We will view this slide show together.  Pay close attention to what tone is and how an author uses tone in his or her story or poem.

    The difference is that the mood is how the author feels at that moment in time. The tone is how the author writes the story. For example like with exclamation marks, that shows that they are yelling.
